This Privacy Policy explains how we process personal data when you visit datalysis.ch. It is based on the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
02 — Our approach
This website collects as little personal data as possible. It does not use cookies (except the single opt-out cookie described in section 4), advertising, cross-site tracking or social media plugins. Fonts, scripts and other resources are hosted on our own server. We do not sell personal data.
03 — Hosting and server logs
This website is hosted by Infomaniak Network SA, Geneva, Switzerland, on servers located in Switzerland.
When you visit the website, the server automatically records technical information in log files: IP address, date and time of the request, requested page, referring page, browser and operating system (user agent), HTTP status code and amount of data transferred.
We use this data to deliver the website, ensure its security and diagnose errors. The log files are kept by the hosting provider for a short period (a few days) and then deleted automatically.
Legal basis (GDPR): our legitimate interest in operating a secure and functional website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
04 — Web analytics
We use Matomo, an open-source web analytics tool, to understand how the website is used and to improve it. Matomo is installed on our own server at tracking.datalysis.ch, hosted by Infomaniak in Switzerland. No data is shared with the Matomo developers or any other third party.
Matomo is configured to minimise data collection:
- no cookies are used for tracking;
- IP addresses are anonymised (the last two bytes are removed) before storage;
- no user identifiers, no cross-site tracking, no heatmaps or session recordings;
- statistics are only viewed in aggregated form;
- data is deleted after at most 25 months.
The data processed includes the anonymised IP address, approximate location (country or region), pages visited, date and time of the visit, referring website, browser, operating system, device type, screen resolution and browser language.
Legal basis (GDPR): our legitimate interest in measuring and improving our website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Opting out
You can exclude your visits from our statistics using the option below. If you opt out, a single cookie is stored in your browser only to remember this choice. If you delete your cookies, the opt-out is removed and you need to opt out again.
Note: the opt-out preference is stored as a small cookie on your device. Clearing your cookies will reset this preference.
05 — Contact form and email
If you contact us via the contact form or by email, we process the data you provide (e.g. name, email address, company and the content of your message) in order to respond to your request.
Contact form submissions are sent to us by email and are not stored in a database on the website. Our email is provided by Google Workspace (Google Cloud EMEA Limited, Ireland, and its affiliate Google LLC, USA). Emails may therefore be processed on servers outside Switzerland and the EU/EEA, including in the USA (see section 8).
We keep your messages as long as necessary to handle your request and as required by statutory retention obligations.
Legal basis (GDPR): steps taken at your request prior to entering into a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) or our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
06 — Links to YouTube videos
Some pages show a preview image of a video hosted on YouTube. The preview image is stored on our own server; no data is sent to YouTube or Google when you view our pages.
When you click on a video preview, a new tab opens on youtube.com, operated by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. From that point on, YouTube’s own privacy policy applies, and Google processes your data, including your IP address, cookies and usage data, under its own responsibility, possibly also in the USA. We have no influence over this processing. More information: Google Privacy Policy.
07 — Links to social media
Our website contains simple links to our social media profiles. No data is transmitted to these platforms when you visit our website. If you click a link, you leave our website and the privacy policy of the respective platform applies.
08 — Recipients and transfers abroad
We only share personal data with service providers that help us operate this website and our communication (Infomaniak in Switzerland, Google as described above), or where required by law. We do not sell personal data.
Where data is transferred to the USA, Google LLC is certified under the EU-U.S. and Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission and the Swiss Federal Council recognise as providing an adequate level of data protection. In addition, standard contractual clauses apply.
09 — Data security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) to this website.
10 — Your rights
Under applicable data protection law, you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data deleted;
- restrict or object to processing;
- receive your data in a common electronic format (data portability);
- withdraw any consent you have given, with effect for the future.
To exercise your rights, contact us at (loading, js required). We may ask for proof of identity.
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. In Switzerland, this is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), Feldeggweg 1, 3003 Bern, www.edoeb.admin.ch. If you are in the EU/EEA, you can also contact the supervisory authority in your country of residence.
11 — Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when our website or legal requirements change. The current version is always published on this page.
